Determined

At the age of seventeen I travelled to Edinburgh and tried to join the army, navy and then the Royal Air Force. It was a long day. By the end of it each in their turn rejected me on the grounds that I was/am partially colour blind. I was determined to get married in uniform so I returned to the city a few years later and became a bus conductor.
